# Test in the browser

> Talk to an agent from your browser before it gets a phone number.

Browser calls let you try an agent without a phone number. They use your free credit first, then your balance, at the same \$0.10 per minute as other calls.

## In the dashboard

Open the agent and start a browser call. Allow microphone access when your browser asks. Speak as a caller would.

You can test the latest draft before you publish it. A draft test never reaches live callers.

## What to check

* The greeting is short and says who is answering.
* The agent answers the questions callers actually ask.
* It collects the details you need and repeats them back.
* It transfers to a person when it should. See [Handoff](https://docs.larynth.com/concepts/handoff.md).
* It does not make things up. If it does, tighten the instructions or add the facts to a [knowledge base](https://docs.larynth.com/concepts/knowledge.md).

After the call, open it to read the transcript, the turn timings and the [summary](https://docs.larynth.com/concepts/summaries.md).

## If the call does not connect

* Check that your browser has microphone permission for the dashboard.
* Try another network. Some networks block the media traffic browser calls need. Larynth tries a direct connection first and then falls back to a relay.
* Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

## With the API

A browser call is a WebRTC session. Your client creates an SDP offer, and the API returns the answer.

1. Request relay credentials with `POST /v1/web-calls/ice-servers`. They are short-lived.
2. Create your peer connection with those servers and wait for ICE gathering to finish. The API takes a complete SDP offer with no trickle candidates.
3. Send the offer to `POST /v1/assistants/{assistant_id}/web-calls`. Set `use_draft` to test the latest draft instead of the published version.
4. Apply the returned `sdp_answer`. The call ends on its own after `max_duration_s`.

Most people use the dashboard for this. The API is for building your own test client.
